Somerset Carnival Set to Get New Home…
On Wednesday evening the Councillors of Area west planning committee voted to approve the recommendation of SSDC planners and grant permission for a new Carnival Park, on land just outside of Ilminster. The South Somerset Carnival Park Committee are overjoyed with the decisions made at the Councillors meeting and now await due process before final conformation is received. None the less SSCPC expect formal consent within the new few weeks and so therefore in the background we have been planning for this day. “It is now time to formalise the grant application process and set the wheels in motion which will deliver this much needed project for Carnival and the wider community”

2020 - We are still waiting for the planning permission to go to the planning committee for a decision.
October 2018 - Application uploaded for comment by SSDC
July 2018 - Plans are submitted to South Somerset Council Offices, fingers crossed
Update: Meeting
The next South Somerset Carnival Park Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday 2nd May, 7.30pm at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster.
There have been some important developments over the last few months with regards to the carnival park moving forward and we would like to take this opportunity to update you all with this information.
Meeting.
The next South Somerset Carnival Park meeting will be held on Tuesday 26th July at the Shrubbery Hotel Ilminster starting at 7.30pm. We will be discussing items such as:
Any club, group or organisation with interest please make every effort to attend, your help is required if progress is going to continue.
Letter of commitment from Carnivals Clubs:
A letter was sent out to all Carnival clubs who took part in last year's Carnivals to ask for their support and commitment in continuing the search for a Carnival Park in South Somerset. A questionnaire was also included.
PowerPoint Presentation to Local Councils.
You can find a copy of the PowerPoint presentation given to local councils under the information page.
Pre-Carnival Party to be held at Seavington Hall on the 28th August:
Pre-Carnival Party to be held at Seavington Hall (Nr Ilminster) on the 28th August. Tickets are available from the email address below or via 01460 53508 or on the door subject to availability at £5 per person (under 12 free)
All members / clubs / spectators / committees / circuits are welcome.
The intention of the Pre-Carnival Party is clear, let's get this season off to a good start in the format we will all no doubt continue until the last presentation is over.
The South Somerset Federation Clubs have come together to organise this event including Carnival Roadshow Disco, Mouse Racing, and Food being offered by the local clubs and groups themselves. We all realise that despite the healthy competition we share whilst on the road the time has come to work together or face the long term consequences. There is little point in being the last club standing on the line up. A carnival of one is no carnival at all.
All proceeds from the evening will be going directly towards the Carnival Park project.
